Last light 16:55
Golden then red light on the Rosengarten from about 16:20 until last light at 16:55. Be at Bolzano or Lake Carezza by 15:50.
| 15:50 | Arrive at Bolzano or Lake Carezza (by) |
| 16:20 | Gold turns to orange on the summit |
| 16:54 | Sunset on a flat horizon here (the valley is already in shade) |
| 16:55 | Last light: the very top turns red, then grey |
Plan it
Lake Carezza adds a reflection; from Bolzano the Rosengarten fills the east end of the city. Clear, dry evenings give the strongest colour. The glow needs a clear sky towards the west as well as over the peak.

Questions
What time is the sunset glow on the Rosengarten?
6 Nov 2026: Golden then red light on the Rosengarten from about 16:20 until last light at 16:55. Be at Bolzano or Lake Carezza by 15:50. The time moves through the year; pick your date above.
How much earlier does the Rosengarten catch the sun than the valley?
About 2 minutes after a sunrise on a flat horizon at Bolzano or Lake Carezza.
Which month has the earliest and latest last light?
January 16:57, February 17:42, March 18:22, April 20:04, May 20:44, June 21:12, July 21:07, August 20:27, September 19:29, October 18:31, November 16:44, December 16:31 (15th of each month).
How is this calculated?
A summit high above its surroundings looks down on its own horizon, so it sees the sun before anything below it. For each date we find the moment the sun's upper edge clears the skyline as seen from the summit (allowing for the dip of the horizon, refraction and higher ridges nearby). The red, then orange, then gold glow lasts until the sun is about 5° higher. Expect the real moment within about 5 minutes.
